The school is open all year round both for group and individual teaching. The teachers are specialized in the teaching of Italian as a foreign and second language, and are particularly experienced in instructing adult students. The school of Italian Il Sasso is in Montepulciano, in the heart of Tuscany, half way between Florence and Rome.
It is located in a historic building in town. It has 8 large, airy classrooms and a hall for conferences. There is a terrace with a lovely panoramic view as well as free Internet Point for students and WiFi access.
The Italian language School Il Sasso offers to its students a wide variety of excursions and afternoon activities - guided tours, wine, olive oil and cheese tastings, cooking lessons, walks in the countryside – and the opportunity to study or watch a film at the school.
Students are of every age group and come from all parts of the globe. Class sizes are from four to nine students. The classes of Italian Language and Culture are divided into six levels based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the European Council, with an additional level for students who wish to concentrate on conversation.
The principal objective of our language courses is to get our students, even those in the beginner and elementary levels, to the point where they're able to communicate in Italian.

Even if you come to Montepulciano to learn Italian, you will probably not want to pass all your time doing exercises and reading grammar books! It is possible to spend pleasant afternoons in the country or enrich your knowledge of Montepulciano and its surrounding areas. If this is your intention, you may like to take part in our cultural programme whose activities include guided tours of Montepulciano, cooking evenings, wine-tasting, a series of tutorials on history and the story of art, walks in the country and excursions to Cortona, Lago di Trasimeno or Montalcino. All these activities are, of course, in Italian. The excursions are optional and not included in the price of courses.

In Aspra - near by Palermo - the lessons take place at the school or on the roof terraces of the various apartments overlooking the sea. The distance from the local accommodation is minimal and all accommodation has a stunning view of the sea and the Mediterranean gulf. Just outside the front door of the appartments are rocky outcrops and small stony bays from which you can swim, dive, go snorkeling or scuba diving. The small village of Aspra, not far from Bagheria, is a charming fishing village and a peaceful location, ideal for anyone who wants a break away from the crowded tourist traps in the larger cities.
Dependant on accommodation, the maximum distance from the town is 400 meters to 1 kilometer.
The town of Bagheria is around 15 kilometres from Palermo and can easily be reached by public transport or by car. Palermo offers much to tourists and is notable for its regular cultural activities.
Being in close proximity to the beautiful city of Palermo also makes Aspra an ideal base for those who love city nightlife and good Sicilian food. There are also excellent restaurants in and around Aspra itself.
