Persuasive Essay Introductory Sentence Examples
This assignment, also referred to as the argument essay, is assigned so that students learns the essential parts of writing “for” or “against” a topic in an attempt to convince the reader to do something or believe in something. - Open with an anecdote: I was 7 years old when I almost drowned in about two inches of water, but the near-tragedy didn’t deter me from the charity work I’ve wanted to do all my life to find a cure for muscular dystrophy.
- Start with a Stat or Fact: 97.5% of the facts we read online aren’t true and are usually made up on the spot to bring into question empirical truths.
- Ask a Question: Who wouldn’t want to do all they could to protect himself or his family, so why wouldn’t everyone support the right to bear arms in one’s private home from any type of threat?
- Start with an Outrageous Statement or Exaggeration: Governments and banks conspire with one another in order to profit from poverty, war, and disease and the citizens of Earth aren’t going to take it anymore!
